Michael Keaton was “hesitant and cautious” about making another “Beetlejuice” movie.
The 72-year-old actor starred in Tim Burton's original film in 1988, and Michael had been wrestling with the idea of reviving Beetlejuice for years.
Michael told PEOPLE: “We thought, 'We've got to do this right. If we don't, let's just quit. Let's get on with our lives and do something else.'” So I hesitated, and carefully. It happened, but [Tim] Perhaps he was just as hesitant and cautious as he had been all these years.
“Once I got there, I said, 'Okay, let's just do it. Let's see if we can do it, see if we can get it done.'”
The new movie Beetlejuice is scheduled for release later this year and also stars Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, and Jenna Ortega.
And despite his initial concerns, Michael enjoyed filming his long-awaited new film.
He said, “It was the most fun I've ever had on set.''
Jenna reunited with Wednesday director Tim Burton to star in Beetlejuice, and the 21-year-old actress recently teased details of the new film.
Jenna, known for her role as Wednesday Addams on the hit Netflix show, told Entertainment Tonight. “It was visually very exciting. Everything was practical. I don't think we used much CGI or anything like that.”
Jenna also loved working with the film's star-studded cast and can't wait for Beetlejuice to be released later this year.
Reflecting on filming, Jenna said, “Everyone did an amazing job. I felt so lucky to be on set and it was incredible…I can't wait for people to see it.” Ta.
