stage scenery
Starting Saturday, the Humboldt Light Opera Company will offer four stage scenery painting classes taught by master scenographer Carlene Coriati.
This class will be held on May 11th, followed by June 1st and 8th. All courses will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at The Space at 92 Sunny Brae Center in Arcata.
These classes are for ages 8 and up and no experience is necessary. If you're already a painter, you have the chance to learn how to translate your art to the stage. Everyone will explore painting techniques for texturing as well as creating depth and dimension in painted drops and landscape pieces.
Coriati designed the sets for all the local theater companies. She has a Master's degree in Scenic Design and has over 50 years of experience in painting backdrops and creating sets that reflect time and place with color and texture.
All materials will be provided. Cost is $10 per class or $30 for all four classes. For more information, please contact HLOC at info@hloc.org.
