Jordin Sparks is keen to replace Katy Perry on American Idol.
The 39-year-old pop star recently announced plans to leave the show after season 22 of American Idol, and Jordan has already been named as a potential replacement for Katy on social media.
Jordan, 34, who won American Idol in 2007 and went on to become one of the show's most successful contestants, wrote to X: My name is in the hat! [waving emoji] (sic)”
Jordan came forward after Katy announced her exit from American Idol during a recent TV appearance.
The pop star, who joined the “American Idol'' judges in 2018, said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!'' “This will probably be my last show, the last season of Idol.
“I mean, I love 'Idol.' Idol connects me to the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel its heart beat to my own beat. Do you know what I’m saying?”
Katy's American Idol co-star Lionel Richie later supported Katy's decision, admitting it “makes sense.”
The veteran star admitted that Katy and himself are at very different points in their lives and careers.
Lionel, 74, said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“In other words, the reason I love being on the show with you and the reason I'm doing 'American Idol' is because I have 400 years of story and life in the music industry. I That's what we've done so far.” ”
