Through this program, Kerin's healthy lifestyle educators take each student on a three-year journey to discuss the relationship between proper nutrition, physical activity, sleep habits, and optimal health. This program is specifically designed for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students, with 3rd grade students expanding students' awareness and enjoyment of fresh, real foods, and 4th grade students deciphering nutrition labels on packaged products. The focus is on practicing how to make the best choices when eating out. Fifth. Students will also learn about the difference between fresh, healthy, whole foods and drinks and ultra-processed, unhealthy products. And how to make the healthiest choices wherever you are.

Kerin takes nutrition education outside the classroom with her “Garden as Classroom” program. Sponsored by Riley Children's Hospital of the Lehigh Valley, this program brings students closer to their own food by planting, growing and harvesting crops in the school's own raised bed garden. Create a learning laboratory for science, ecology, and healthy food lessons. Students also experience the excitement and sense of accomplishment of growing and enjoying their own crops.
This program has a far-reaching impact on students, families, and district staff. One elementary school teacher participating in the initiative said, “Each year, this program gives me a little more courage to model more of these healthy choices for my students. I have made some changes in my life based on my thoughts.''We have learned through this program and would like to teach the same to our students. ”
