Gary Barlow wants to use virtual reality on his Take That tour.
The 'Patience' hitmakers are set to embark on a six-month, 72-day concert series starting in April in support of their current album 'This Life', with the 53-year-old singer expecting U2 to perform in concert. The design was inspired by the immersive technology used inside. The Sphere Las Vegas residency features 160,000 square feet of LED screens surrounding the auditorium.
Gary told the Sunday Mirror about seeing U2:
“Imagine coming to one of our shows and seeing everyone wearing goggles…I think that’s where we can improve.
“We've been listening to music for a long time, and then we started watching videos to music. What's next? I think the experience is going to be even bigger.”
Ahead of the tour, Gary joked that he was the “class bore” compared to bandmates Mark Owen and Howard Donald. Because he can't stand late nights and parties like they do.
He added: “I want to give 150% on stage. Others are in better shape than me.”
Late last year, former 'X Factor' judge Gary hinted that residing in Las Vegas had been floated as a possibility.
“Las Vegas, it's looking promising,” he said during a live recording of the Take That: This Life podcast in London's Leicester Square.
And last month, Voltaire founder Michael Gruber admitted he wanted to welcome the Back for Good group to Sin City, despite previous talks breaking down.
Michael wrote in The Sun's Bizarre column: “I love Take That. I would absolutely love them to perform at Voltaire. It would be perfect for them. I was thinking of doing a show. In the end, it didn't work out,” he said.
