As the spring semester comes to a close, Cal State Fullerton students jam with an alternative rock band during No Stress Fest hosted by Titan Radio at the Titan Student Union Pub on Thursday. .
One of the many events Titan Radio hosts during the semester, No Stress Fest provided students with an opportunity to make new friends and spend time celebrating the end of the year before the stress of finals week begins. Thursday night at the Titan Student Union Pub was filled with fun giveaways, thrilling music, and free delicious food.
“No Stress Fest is a way to build community beyond the Titan Radio station and its staff, while also helping students reduce stress and “I can enjoy a night without any sleep.”
“We're building a community here, and it's really great to see that community extend beyond the radio station,” Talib said. “They really like us, so they take the time to have fun with us, dance around and have a stress-free day.”
The night's main event featured performances by three talented bands: Offtracks, Reservoir Valley and The Treedome. Three groups took to the stage and filled the pub with exciting original music and cover songs.
LA-based band The Treedome served as the night's opener, greeting attendees with soft, melodic tunes. The students swayed as they were moved by the instrumental and jazz-style music.
Although this is the group's first college event, Treedome member Gabi Hernandez says it's important for the band to share these spaces and participate in local events.
“I think it's great to be in a community where you all share the same interests, and those interests are, you know, making music or creating art in general,” Hernandez said.
For others, No Stress Fest was not only a stress-free evening, but a way to find community and meet new people, said Anna Littleton, a fourth-year communications major.
“Especially in the first few years, if you don't know a lot of people and you want to meet new people with similar interests, like music, I think events like this are really great for that,” Littleton said. .
The highlight of the night was Reservoir Valley. The Pomona-based group was called in to replace their previous band, but still managed to fill the pub with exhilarating energy and original alternative and indie rock singles.
To sustain that energy, the students performed lively “crowd work” by dancing and even creating a mosh pit.
This was the band's first college venue and it was nothing short of amazing in terms of performing and showing how much talent they had.
“We've done a few shows in the past, but to be honest, I've never had another show with this much energy and this big crowd. So this is a really great opportunity and experience for us. ,” said Reservoir Valley member Daniel Diaz.
As the night drew to a close and headliner band Offtracks completed a thrilling performance, Titan Radio hosts were able to announce the winners of concert tickets and artist giveaways, including TV Girl and Lizzy McAlpine. .
Most importantly, the students were left with memories worth remembering, with the support of their friends and classmates, as well as a local band, an evening of great energy and stress-free moments just before the start of finals week. is to create.
