Mothers do a lot for their children's happiness. This is the story of a single mother who changed her life for the sake of her son and herself.
Becoming a parent is never easy. When a person becomes a mother, it brings us great emotions. Becoming a mother is truly a roller coaster. Becoming a mother requires many sacrifices. And one of the things we have to learn from them is their unwavering strength, their never-say-die perseverance. Sanajan Grover's story is similar. His 55-year-old single mother chose a lifestyle path that suited her better and set an example for her son and herself. She is a single mother and lost a few kilos to motivate her son to live a healthy lifestyle, which also helped with her polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Speaking about her journey as a single mother and dealing with all the big hurdles in life, Sanjan beautifully explains what it takes to be a single mother in an exclusive conversation with India.com . She said I was a single mom and sometimes being a single mom is the biggest advantage. Society considers you an object of pity, sometimes of great bravado, but I consider myself no different from anyone else. In other words, if a man can support a family and raise children, so can a woman. The only difference I see with women who raise children as single parents is that we are healthier people. I think our EQ to IQ ratio is better. Especially if you work and are a single parent, we can not only be better parents to our children and meet the needs they may have, but we can also be better people if we are single. And we need to go out and protect ourselves and our children, and in the process become much stronger, more gorgeous, more beautiful, more seductive, more attractive. ”
All about Sanjana Grover
Sanjana is originally from Delhi but spent her formative years in Gujarat before getting married and relocating there. After separating from her husband in her early 30s, she returned to Delhi and currently lives in Gurgaon with her parents and her son. She is also a tarot card fortune teller.
Speaking to India.com, she said, “I faced this problem after my marriage broke down and I started becoming more and more spiritual.'' I wouldn't call it religious. I didn't do bhajan kirtan. But there has always been a quest for self-reflection about what life is and how it can be better. Then the coronavirus hit, and suddenly I lost my job and had nothing to do. I thought then that this was a great opportunity for me to rediscover myself and do something new. I remember asking my girlfriend's son for financial help and signing up for various courses on Coursera because I was completely broke. ”
“Initially, the only hurdle I faced was when I had to leave my husband and move back to my parents in Gurgaon. When I was a child, I used to read romantic novels by Mills and Boons. I always thought that I would get a Prince Charming who would get rid of me and marry me, but I like to think that we are both fair. I also realized that Charming was only human. But things didn't go well.
“I didn't have any friends here,” she explained of her struggles in moving and starting a new life with her son. All my friends were in Delhi. I realized that traveling from Gurgaon to Delhi 15-16 years ago was not an easy task. There was no proper connectivity or transportation. And I've lived with it. I didn't live with friends in Gurgaon for a long time.
How did Sanjana set an example for her son?
One day, while driving with my son, I happened to come across a cult gym in Gurgaon. I was intrigued by the atmosphere and atmosphere, so I went to see it. Having always had a passion for dance, Cult was a sanctuary for me, where I became part of a close-knit community and discovered various fitness activities such as weightlifting and boxing.
“I have always struggled with my weight due to the late diagnosis of PCOS, which has only gotten worse with my recent diagnosis of thyroid disease. In 2012, I weighed almost 90kg. Due to declining health, I decided to embark on a weight loss journey. With no knowledge of fitness, I first starved myself and learned gentle yoga from my aunt, who is a yoga teacher. Despite facing setbacks and rejection, I was able to find the motivation to change within myself and was able to lose 30 kg. , my weight continued to fluctuate because I didn't focus on the amount of food I ate or my nutrition was inadequate.
Personally, my fitness journey has made me the best version of myself. I currently have a thyroid disease, but it doesn't stop me from living a better and healthier life every day. For my son, my journey has helped him become more resilient to travel. He is consistent and focused and feels a certain pride in introducing me as his mother.
I think every woman knows what she has to do. We just lack focus and courage. So stay focused and stay brave. With goals set, you can muster the courage and focus to achieve them.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the super moms out there!
