AUDUBON – The entire Audubon County Sheriff's Department division will not be relocated from the Audubon County Courthouse, but portions of the department will be relocated to Memorial Hall to accommodate individual appointments and interviews, and other departments will be relocated. It will be relocated to the courthouse during construction of the courthouse.
According to Audubon County Sheriff Todd Johnson, “Audubon County Sheriff's departments and dispatch units will not be moving outside of the courthouse during construction, but will be relocating within the courthouse.”
“As this courthouse is inaccessible, the public will be asked to contact the Sheriff's Department and/or Police Department by phone or by using the south entrance of the courthouse,” he said.
The portion of the sheriff's office that will be relocated to the old police station will handle duties that cannot be performed at the courthouse during construction.
“We have requested space within the former police station at Memorial to conduct processing, interviews, OWI testing, etc. of individuals who are arrested while the facility is unavailable,” said Sheriff Johnson. The public may not go to the memorial for assistance unless directed to do so by dispatch or law enforcement officials. Thank you for your patience during this time. ”
Earlier this year, Police Chief Kobe Gast told the City Council that the Audubon Police Department would be moving to the new City Hall location, but the move would wait until warmer weather and new security equipment such as cameras were installed. Ta.
