Zack Snyder boasted that the director's cut of Rebel Moon is “insane.”
The 58-year-old filmmaker's two-part Netflix sci-fi saga concludes with the release of “Rebel Moon: Part 2 – Scargiver,” with the cut, which has no restrictions on “running time” and “ratings,” due in August. It will be made available to viewers.
Zack told Screen Rant: “Honestly, this is probably the most rewarding part of the deal I have with Netflix. They are a great partner and are able to complete the director's cut exactly to my specifications.
“Runtime doesn't matter. Ratings don't matter. Everything I was able to do with the director's cut is truly a dream come true for a filmmaker with a completely free hand. It's amazing.”
Snyder's four-hour director's cut of Justice League was released in 2021 after much response from superhero fans, but he was able to work with the streamer to bring his original ideas to life. He says he was lucky.
The Army of the Dead director said, “Netflix has been a great partner for PG 13, the test screenings, the usual notes from the studio, the usual content, the normal interactions. ” he said. Getting this property where it can be seen by the most people is a fun job we can do together.
“That being said, it's really fun to completely let go of whatever you think about the director's cut. So that's what I'm most proud of. What's happening is, I think, this ridiculous, insane rant.''For certain people, it's going to be the best of both worlds.'' ”
