livingston texas – A person of interest in the disappearance of 11-year-old Audrey Cunningham remained in the Polk County Jail on unrelated charges Monday as the search for the missing girl continues.
Cunningham never got on the school bus on Thursday morning, February 15th.
Last weekend, investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety publicly named Don Stephen McDougall as a person of interest in the case. McDougall was arrested on Friday, February 16th.
Below is a timeline of events from Cunningham's disappearance to McDougall's disappearance until his arrest on unrelated charges.
Thursday, February 15th – around 7am
Mr. Cunningham was unable to ride the school bus.
Thursday, February 15th – around 9am
An Exxon clerk in Cold Spring said he saw McDougall at the gas station. She remembers his face. She told KPRC 2 reporter Gage Golding that she called police after an Amber Alert was issued.
“I can't remember what he bought,” the clerk said. “Maybe he got some gas, had a few beers and just refreshed himself. I didn't know I had to remember, but I know he was here, because he Because it's so ugly. It's a face you'll never forget.”
The store employee said Friday that she immediately called police after seeing McDougall's face on social media. Police were at the store within 15 minutes and reviewed surveillance video.
February, Thursday 15:00-17:30
According to DPS, Cunningham's family reported her missing at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Thursday, February 15th – around 6pm
KPRC 2 Investigative Unit received a copy of a police radio transmission made the night Cunningham's family reported her missing.
“Can I go to xxx drive?” This will be a missing person report. The woman who called said her granddaughter was dropped off at the bus stop around 7 a.m. this morning and she never got on the bus, and she said she hasn't been on a bus since. She said the woman was approximately 4'11″ tall, had blonde hair, blue eyes, and was last seen wearing the following: dark jacket.
Thursday, February 15th – around 7pm
Shortly after 7 p.m., police came back on the radio and the conversation said, “The county has received a report of a missing juvenile.” She wants you to look up her address to see if she's there. She should have been at her mother's address. Her mother has no custody of her, she has never had custody of her, and she recently threatened to kidnap her. ”
The address of the second location was not disclosed in the radio transmission.
Thursday, February 15th – 9:38pm
A statewide Amber Alert has been issued by Audrey Cunningham of Livingston, Texas.
February, Thursday 15 – Evening
A Facebook account linked to McDougall posted the item on Marketplace. It was listed as “everyone must go.” Items included HVAC system parts, a set of weights, and an Everlast punching bag.
Friday, February 16:00 – 3:00 a.m.
Early Friday morning, at 3 a.m., an account linked to McDougall sent a message to a KPRC 2 producer about a Facebook ad. There was no further communication.
Friday February 16th – around 9am
A resident spotted McDougall outside several businesses in downtown Livingston. He was seen standing in front of a blue Suburban SUV. Police approached Mr. McDougall and questioned him.
Friday February 16:00-18:30
McDougal was arrested on unrelated charges, according to Polk County Jail records.
Friday, February 16:00-23:50
According to Polk County Jail records, McDougall was booked into the jail at 11:50 p.m.
Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Craig Cummings said at a news conference that McDougall, 42, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.
McDougall has a long criminal record with more than a dozen convictions, including attempted child molestation and child enticement.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the 2003 dark blue Chevrolet Suburban on Thursday or Friday to contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Deputies have the vehicle in their possession but need help locating additional locations where the vehicle may have been traveling.
Mr Cummings said the vehicle belonged to McDougall and he would like to hear from anyone who may have seen it.
Additionally, Cummings said Polk County Crime Stoppers is offering a $7,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for Audrey's disappearance.
