Gwen Stefani believes the music industry has become like the “Wild West.”
Singer Gwen, 54, first rose to stardom as a member of No Doubt in the '90s, but she's not sure where she fits in the music world these days.
The blonde beauty, who is married to country music star Blake Shelton, told NYLON magazine: “I said to Blake the other day, 'You don't understand that I'm going to write a record after being a mother and a wife?'” Everyone was like, “What took you so long?” You might think so. Well, why not give her 5 seconds to be creative? ”
In fact, Gwen finds it difficult to balance her music career and parental responsibilities.
The singer, who shares sons Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 10, with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, said: “It's very difficult to force that into your life. I think that's what makes it more special than anything else.” Until now.
“It's like when you have a new baby and someone says, 'Oh my God, you have to dye your hair,' or 'You have to take a bath today.' It's like being there. It's so selfish — and special.”
Gwen and Blake released a song called “Purple Iris” earlier this year.
The song's name was inspired by the time they spent together at Blake's Oklahoma ranch during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Gwen has an incredible sense for planting things, how to plant things, how to nurture them once they've grown, and when to prune them,” Blake said.
“I like to farm on a large scale, many acres at a time, like corn and beans. She focuses on fields here and there and ends up farming a little better than me. Masu.”
