LSU sophomore Timothy Wayne just signed a major record deal with Nashville music label Universal Music Group.
Wayne, a native of Franklin, Tenn., outside Music City, debuted his first single, “God Made A Country Boy,” with his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha, on Tuesday.
Despite being a newcomer to the scene, Wayne caught the attention of country music legend Tim McGraw, earning him a spot on McGraw's “Standing Room Only” tour this summer.
“He's bringing in a new generation of hardcore country music fans,” said Cindy Mabe, CEO of UMG Nashville. “It’s been a lot of fun watching Timothy build an era in country music.”
Wayne will also perform at the annual Country Music Awards Fest in Nashville this June. With newfound stardom, the college cowboy has made it clear he's staying here at LSU.
“That's a very important part to me,” Wayne said. “I'm here because the experience I got in college is very important to me.”
