The victims were found shot to death in their dorm room on Friday.
A student was taken into custody Monday in connection with a double homicide at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, officials said.
Nicholas Jordan, 25, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of two victims found shot to death in a dormitory room Friday, Colorado Springs police said. It is said that there is. Jordan, a Detroit native, is a student at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, according to a university spokesperson.
Police said in a statement that the shooting appeared to be an “isolated incident between acquaintances and was not a random attack on the school or other students.”
According to Colorado Springs Police, the victims were identified as Celie Lane Montgomery, 26, of Pueblo, Colorado, and Samuel Knopp, 24, of Parker, Colorado.
Police said Knopp was a registered student at the school, but Montgomery was not currently registered.
Student Gibson Marable told ABC News that Knopf was “uplifting” and “probably the best musician on campus.”
“We are in shock as we process this tragic loss of two lives,” University President Jennifer Sobanet said at a press conference. “My heart breaks for the victims of today's senseless violence.”
