Sheryl Crow is concerned about the increasing influence of AI technology in the music industry.
Singer Cheryl, 62, is preparing to release her new album Evolution in March after previously hinting she would not make another album, but the rise of AI technology has spurred her into action.
The award-winning star, who has two adopted children, Wyatt and Levi, told the Guardian: I completed 7 songs, which are somewhere between diary and venting.
“I called my producer friend Mike Elizondo and said, 'I have these songs. I don't want to produce them myself, but can I send them to you?'” He was shocked. I was so excited that I wrote two more records and the album was completed. ”
Cheryl suggested that her new album is a direct response to AI technology.
The “Strong Enough” hitmaker actually described AI-influenced music as “an attack on society.” [her] spirit”.
Reflecting on the new record, Cheryl says, “This is my response to what's happening in my country, my little world, and perhaps humanity as a whole.
“In Mike's studio, this young songwriter says he won't get support from male singers unless he lets men sing on his demos, so he pays him $5 to use AI to sing John Mayer's voice. “When she played it for me, I almost cried. It was so real, it felt like my spirit was being attacked. We have to protect ourselves. It won’t.”
