Billy Baldwin wasn't happy with former co-star Sharon Stone's claims that she was pressured to sleep with him while working on the movie Sliver.
The “Backdraft” star, who is the younger brother of actor Alec Baldwin, issued a lengthy response on X (formerly Twitter) to Stone's headline-making allegations Tuesday afternoon.
“I don't understand why Sharon Stone keeps talking about me after all these years?” he wrote. “Does she still like me or is she still hurt after all these years because I avoided her advances?”
He also claimed that he met with producer Robert Evans and suggested that he choreograph one of the sex scenes in Sliver so that he didn't have to kiss Stone.
“There was so much dirt on her that it made me dizzy, but I kept quiet,” he wrote, adding: That might be fun. ”
The 1993 film Sliver tells the story of recently divorced book editor Carly Norris (played by Stone) who moves into a luxury New York high-rise where several mysterious deaths have occurred. There, she catches the eye of her plucky video game designer, Zeke Hawkins (Baldwin). He may have secret connections with his now deceased former tenants.
Sliver, which premiered just a year after Stone's breakout success with Basic Instinct, was widely panned by critics.
Appearing on the Louis Theroux Podcast this week, Stone claimed that Evans pressured her to sleep with Baldwin behind the scenes in order to improve Baldwin's lackluster performance in front of the cameras.
“He was running around the office with his sunglasses on and he explained to me that because he slept with Ava Gardner, I should sleep with Billy Baldwin. Because if I slept with Billy Baldwin, , because it makes Billy Baldwin perform better,” Stone said. “And because that was the problem, Billy needed to get better in the movie.”
The “Casino” actor previously addressed the alleged conversation in his 2021 memoir, “The Beauty of Living Twice,” but did not reveal Evans' name until this week.
“I wish I had hired a talented co-star, someone who could direct a scene and memorize lines,” she wrote at the time. “I also felt like they could fuck him themselves and ignore me.”
Evans, who also worked on “Rosemary's Baby'' and “The Godfather,'' passed away in 2019 at the age of 89. His last film role as a producer was in the 2003 romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, starring Kate Hudson. Matthew McConaughey.
