Tan France has denied any involvement in her co-star Bobby Berk's being “fired” from the Netflix series Queer Eye.
Burke announced his exit from the makeover show last year, saying it was “not an easy decision.”
France, the show's stylist, said his efforts to hire Brent had nothing to do with Burke's departure from the show.
“My ex-coworker's firing had nothing to do with me trying to hire a friend,” France wrote on her Instagram Reel.
“Netflix and the production company went all out with their casting efforts.
“I ended up getting the job not because I recommended a friend for the job, but because they were the best person for the job.”
Rolling Stone reported that hairstylist Jonathan Van Ness was a “nightmare” to work with on set, claiming that his attitude made filming “difficult.”
Van Ness, Netflix, other Queer Eye cast members and ITV Entertainment, which produces the show, did not respond to requests for comment from the BBC earlier this week.
Burke and Netflix have been asked for further comment following France's comments on Friday.
No one outside France has publicly said that Burke has been fired from the show.
France did not mention the alleged tension on set in her Instagram post.
He went on to say that he was pleased to have Brent, who has presented the show on his home channel HGTV with his husband and fellow designer Nate Berkus, joining the show.
“I think they'll do a great job on the show, but we didn't hire them to the exclusion of anyone else,” France added.
France went on to say that rumors that he was involved in the situation originated in comments on gossip blogs and have “almost become gospel.”
Burke told Vanity Fair in January that he and France were “going to be okay” after it was widely speculated that the two had fallen out.
He admitted that there was tension between him and France, saying, “There was a situation. It was between Tan and I and it had nothing to do with the show. It was about personal issues brewing. Just to be clear, it's not a romantic thing.” that. “
In the same interview, he stated that he was offered a deal to return to the series by Netflix after the streamer unexpectedly decided to renew it for another season.
He stated that he and his co-stars, known as the Fab Five, had no intention of returning, but claimed that the remaining four later changed their minds.
At that point, he said, he had made other plans based on the assumption that there would be no new series, but “I had no intention of changing those plans.” [plans]”.
