Watts: Actor and Executive Producer
Sevigny and Ringwald: actors
Just as Truman Capote recruited a group of elegant Gotham socialites, “Feud” creator Ryan Murphy is hiring a stable of men to play them in Season 2 of the FX anthology series. I relied on skilled female actors. “The Watcher” alum Watts plays wife Babe Paley, while Sevigny, a former “American Horror Story” star and most recently CZ Guest and Ringwald in “Dahmer,” plays Johnny -She is a relative outlier as Carson's former Joan. For Sevigny, a longtime New Yorker who had pored over Capote and his so-called swan images growing up in Darien, Conn., filming in the spectacular locations around Manhattan was a thrill. “We wanted to celebrate a little bit of old New York and its charm and charm,” she says. “It was fun to be on set.” Ringwald also knew that Capote had starred in adaptations of his novels when he was young, and that Murphy played the role of Carson in “Those Starving Women.” I really wanted someone who would be a contrast to that.” Despite the guise of perfection, Watts says, “underneath there were huge cracks, and many were in loveless marriages.” Watts grew up outside the United States and was less familiar with the affluent social climate of the 1970s than some of the actors. “It's a shame, but it was a different time.'' Adding to her melancholy is the sudden death of Treat Williams, who played Babe's husband, shortly after filming wrapped.
Lessons of growing up: Ringwald credits the late production designer and producer Polly Platt with lifting her spirits as she transitioned from teenage roles in films such as Pretty in Pink. . “She said, 'You're going to have a really long career.' And the only way you don't do that is if you decide you don't want to. It's really up to you. You just have to keep doing what you’re doing and stick with it.”
