Mesa is trying new strategies to attract retail stores. Online survey available until April 30th Allow residents to share their opinions on the current state of the retail industry, including restaurants, shops, and entertainment.
The bilingual survey asks people to rank their top three food preferences, from fine dining to pet-friendly to food trucks. The city also wants to know what kinds of businesses residents leave Mesa to visit.
The results will help the city's economic development department develop a retail attraction strategy.
“Staying in Mesa to shop and dine saves you time in your car and keeps sales tax dollars here in our community,” Jay O'Donnell, Mesa's economic development director, said in a prepared statement. “Those taxes will be used to fund critical services that residents use on a daily basis.”
Surprise share survey results
Surprise has been conducting similar research for several years. The city says this has helped convince certain businesses that there is a demand for their products and services. On April 15th, Surprise published his latest results, including over 5,000 responses.
