MONTICELLO, N.Y. — Monticello Central School District (MCSD) in January appointed Laura Zanlucha as the district's director of secondary education.
In her new role, Ms. Zanlucha will be responsible for overseeing all curriculum at the secondary level, including curriculum evaluation and purchasing, and working with teachers to improve curriculum and teaching skills. She will also work closely with the secondary administration.
“I think she will be a great addition to our department and district,” said Assistant Superintendent Theresa Carlin. “We are very excited about the wealth of experience she brings.”
At the administrative level, his experience includes positions as principal and assistant principal in both high schools and middle schools, and most recently as director of humanities, literacy, ENL, and early childhood education-12 for the Binghamton City School District. Masu.
This position covers all aspects of education from early childhood through high school. Through these roles, she has developed a rich perspective on all aspects of her educational experience, from the numerous factors involved in administrative decision-making to the importance of building relationships as the foundation of success. . She is eager to bring those skills to Monticello, a district spokesperson said.
“Monticello is a diverse neighborhood full of innovation,” Zanlucha said. “Goals are set to move students forward, and the conversations I had there gave me the impression that faculty believe goals are important and are always looking to the next step. This is the place I want to work.”
School district curriculum directors were previously grouped by content area, but the Department of Curriculum and Instruction has decided to reorganize the director position by grade level.
“Our directors have primary or secondary qualifications and specialize in that level of education,” Carlin said. “This change provides a clearer division of responsibility, fewer directors to report to, and a more timely and efficient process.”
Zanlucha will start his new role on February 20th and is looking forward to getting to work.
