LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – The Foxhole PX store, a staple of the Lansing community for more than a century, will close its doors Saturday.
This store opened in 1923. Kelly and Tim Carpenter have owned the store for over 30 years, and the couple has built strong relationships with their customers.
“We have a lot of people who have been here the entire time we've been in the store,” says Kelly Carpenter. “Many people came with their fathers; 1715225201 They are bringing their children. ”
They gained loyal customers like Pete Perez. His father, now deceased, was a Marine and served in the Vietnam War. Perez said his father used to shop at Foxhall PX.
“I've been bringing my kids there since they were little, and now that they're older, we still buy things,” Perez said.
Even though it's the last week of business, the store is busier than usual. Several longtime customers stopped by for the last time to take advantage of the closing sale and wish the couple a peaceful retirement.
“I want to sincerely thank all of our loyal customers. We can't thank them enough for keeping us open for so long,” said Kelly Carpenter.
The Carpenters say it's difficult to step away from the work they love, but they're looking forward to spending time with their grandchildren and traveling up north.
The Foxhole PX store will be open Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will be closed for the last time on Saturday.
