Children will be involved in a variety of activities at Sky Zone venues.
SAN JOSE — An indoor active entertainment operator with parks including trampolines and ziplines is expanding to San Jose, choosing a prime location in a major retail center for one of its next venues.
SkyZone has decided to open a new trampoline and activity park in a large space within Westgate Center, a retail and restaurant complex located at 1600 Saratoga Avenue in Southwest San Jose. Federal Realty Investment Trust, the principal owner of San Jose's Santana Row mixed-destination district, owns Westgate Center.
Sean Hassell, CEO of Skyzone, said: “We are excited about the real estate opportunities we have with the growing number of young families that are increasing demand for our business, as well as rental properties that are a perfect fit for our large footprint and model. “We will continue to utilize former retail space where available.”
In San Jose, Sky Zone leased 34,800 square feet at Westgate Center, bordered by Saratoga Avenue, Atherton Avenue, Hamilton Avenue and Campbell Avenue.
“We are thrilled to announce that Sky Zone will open at Westgate Center and offer the best entertainment activities for our community to participate in,” said Colette Navarrette, senior director of marketing for Federal Realty. I'm happy,” he said.
It was not immediately known when SkyZone is scheduled to open at Westgate Center.
Utah-based Skyzone said the San Jose location will strengthen its efforts to expand its footprint in Northern California.
The company also plans to open SkyZone indoor activity parks in Santa Clarita (Los Angeles County) and Huntington Beach (Orange County). In addition to the three locations in California, SkyZone said it is planning new locations in Oregon and Texas.
“SkyZone gives kids the freedom to run, jump and play with a unique combination of attractions,” the company said as part of its announcement of new locations, including San Jose.
Sky Zone park activities include trampoline jumping, aerial dodgeball, basketball dunks using hoops of various heights, gladiator-style jousting on pedestals, free climbing, a wobbly “Sky Ladder,” These include acrobatics in the “foam zone” and “skyline” balance. Beam, zip line, toddler zone.
It wasn't immediately clear which attractions would be at the new San Jose location. Sky Zone's indoor active entertainment facilities vary in size, and not all parks have the same attractions.
Founded in 2004, Sky Zone owns, operates and franchises more than 270 parks in the United States, the company said. The company said it is aimed at children under 12.
“Sky Zone is a space where you can move, create, and be yourself,” the company said in a web post. “There's plenty of room for everyone, so all kids, and kids at heart, can play together. Our vision is a world where everyone can play every day.”
