Commanding the stage with vigor and displaying an innate talent for physical comedy and mastery of language, Cromer plays Louis de Louis, a feisty adventurer whose boastful tall tales are relished and ridiculed in Victorian England.・He plays Rougemon to the fullest. Shonita Joshi and Andrew Ian Adams also enliven the story by effectively playing more than 30 characters (Adams is an expressive gem as Louis' loyal sidekick). Joshi and Adams provide ample support even when the play moves into an exploration of the awkward and tone-deaf Aborigines. Nevertheless, this family-friendly outing is a wonderfully energetic showcase for Cromer, with a deftly quirky interpretation of the final, beautiful and imaginative scene cementing his legendary artistry. .
