Tahlequah resident and musician will host a summer show for various artists called “The Quake in the Quar” on June 15 at 6:30 p.m.
Event organizer Noah Lyons said he had hosted several shows similar to this one when he lived in Muskogee, and the live performances there mostly featured rock 'n' roll bands.
Four bands perform at Leother Pavilion, all of which fall into the southern rock and country genres.
Lyons moved from the rock and roll band South Aberdeen to the more country-based music group Jake Marlin and the Reckless.
“We're hoping for a good turnout,” Lyons said. “About 320 people have taken an interest in our Facebook page, and I've put up flyers around town. There are still some businesses that need to be worked on, but I think there will be a good turnout. [bands] Being local and everything. ”
Lyons and his band Jake Marlin & The Reckless will perform at the show, along with Mason Jar Revival, Kyler Smith & The Sunday Sinners, and JT & The Damn Things.
“I think it’s a mason jar.” [Revival] And JT & The Damn Things are more of a southern rock type,” Lyons said. “[Jake Marlin & The Reckless] We play a lot of classic country stuff and have a classic country sound. So we're going to do stuff like Cody Johnson, but then we're going to do stuff like Jor Dee Messina and Garth Brooks. ”
Lyons said he should perform well at the event he hosts.
“I’ve done it before and it’s been pretty smooth a few times, so I think it should go pretty well,” Lyons said.
Pavilion's performance at The Quake at The Quah is scheduled to end around 10:30 p.m., but the music will continue at 10:45 p.m. with a free afterparty hosted by Steve Hamby at Ned's.
As for The Quake, Lyons said he just wants families to have a fun night at the free event.
“I feel like anyone who wants to participate can come,” Lyons said. “Every time we do a show, I think it should always be free, or we can have sponsors pay the band. I don't think people should be charging for shows like that. ”
