Fayetteville's “Fat Ham”
Theater Squared, 477 W. Spring St., Fayetteville, Stage “Fat Ham” The James I. James production opens Wednesday at the West Theater and runs through May 12th at 7:30pm Tuesday through Friday, 2pm and 7:30pm Saturday, and 2pm Sunday. The play is a sequel to Shakespeare's Hamlet, which won. Winner of the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. A co-production with Pittsburgh's City Theater, tickets range from $43 to $68. “Travel in time”
Four chamber ensembles of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will perform. River Rhapsody Chamber Music Concert7 p.m. Tuesday, in the Great Hall of the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock.
The program, titled “Journey Through Time,” features the Orchestra's Quapaw Quartet, Charlotte Crossmer and Lauren Pokorzynski on violin. Timothy McDuff (viola) and Travis Schaller (cello) will perform Libby Larsen's “Quartet: She Wrote,” based on a passage from James Joyce's “Ulysses.” Violinists Meredith Maddox Hicks and Katherine Williamson and pianist Jaeyoung Park will perform Moritz Moszkowski's Suite for Two Violins and Piano, Op. 71. Carolyn Brown (flute) and Alisa Coffey (harp) will perform Sonata for Flute and Harp, Op. 56, by Lowell Lieberman. And viola Katherine Reynolds joins Julien Planata on viola da gamba and Daniel Gilbert on harpsichord to perform Sonata No. 4 in C major for viola and basso continuo, composed by William Flackton. National Park College, located at 101 College Drive in Hot Springs, hosts its annual college. Student art and poetry exhibition, more than 100 works, including drawings, paintings, digital works, photography, ceramics, film, and poetry, are on display Monday through Thursday in the university's Student Commons Conference Center. A poetry reception honoring the poetry contest winners will be held at noon Wednesday. A performance by NPC singers and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission to the exhibition and poetry reception event is free.

The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, 503 East 9th Street, Little Rock. Documentary “4-4-43” On Tuesday, April 4, 1943, at 6:30 p.m., 10 American POWs and two prisoners were released from a Japanese POW farm in the Philippines that was thought to be impossible to escape with a secret that would shock the world. The story of a Filipino prisoner who escaped from prison. Producer and screenwriter John D. Lucasacs tells the story through the eyes of Lt. Col. Brooks-Baxter Session
The Old State Capitol Museum, the Arkansas State Archives, and the Arkansas History Museum are now “Arkansas Anarchy: 150 Years of the Brooks-Baxter War” A look back at the spring 1874 dispute between opposing factions of the Arkansas Republican Party over the fraud-riddled results of the 1872 gubernatorial election, which erupted in a bout of armed violence. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old State House, 300 W. Markham St., Little Rock.
This session will include presentations from Arkansas historians, interspersed with readings excerpted from newspaper reports and correspondence of the time. (A news release said it was especially appropriate to hold this program at the Old State Capitol because many of the conflicts occurred in or near this building.)
