“Bark Side of the Moon” The 6th Annual Maine Mardi Gras Dog Parade & Block Party will be roaming downtown's Little Rock Creative Corridor in the 300-600 blocks of Main Street in Little Rock on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The event is scheduled for the weekend before Monday's total solar eclipse, and with Little Rock in the middle of the total solar eclipse, “Howl at the moon with your furry friends,” according to a news release. “It's an opportunity.'' A physicist's perspective
Physicist William S. Higgins holds a seminar titled: “Total solar eclipse entering the shadow of the moon” Sunday, 4 p.m., in the Bevens Music Room, Brown Chapel and Fine Arts Building, Ryan College, 2300 Highland Road, Batesville. This is part of the University's Convocation Speaker Series. Admission is free.
Since 1978, Higgins has worked at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois, most recently as a radiation safety physicist, working on protection from radiation hazards. As a science communicator in his spare time, he is a frequent volunteer with his NASA and has been a witness to spacecraft encounters with Neptune, Pluto, and the asteroid Arrokoth.
Batesville is in the middle of Monday's total solar eclipse. Seminar participants will learn how solar eclipses occur and some of the historical lore surrounding them. The university has planned a Great American Eclipse observation event, dubbed “Scots in the Dark,” and a schedule of activities, exhibits and entertainment on Monday at Couch Garden on campus. Zero Empty Spaces, a Florida-based management company, working artist studio this month at Little Rock's Park Plaza, 6000 W. Markham St., University Avenue. The studio, located on the third floor near H&M and next to Kay Jewelers, will use a monthly studio rental model to affordably house up to 11 artists, “creating their work and connecting with the community.” ” to promote and sell their work,” according to a news release. Argenta Vibe lineup
Folk comedy band The Cleveries will perform at the Argenta Downtown Council and North Little Rock Tourism Board's 2024 Argenta Tour on April 26 at 8 p.m. at Argenta Plaza, 510 Main Street, North Little Rock. – Decorate the opening of the Vibe Music Series.
