SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Maybe someone knocked on your car window and demanded money while you were at a stoplight. Perhaps you passed a woman standing at an intersection holding a sign that said Homeless Veterans. And I may or may not have rolled down my car window to help.
But did you know that apart from money, you also have the option of giving or not giving to someone? It's called a care package, and if you keep reading, you'll be able to make care packages cheaply or buy them in bulk.
It's so easy to help others, so we're helping kids in Louisiana and Texas.
Take Ben Vorsan, for example. He created a program to donate socks to homeless shelters.
In Texarkana, there is a school group that has banded together to create more than 100 care packages to help the homeless.
Being kind isn't just limited to children. Countless stories from Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma prove that people care about people experiencing homelessness.
If you're already thinking about how to make a care package, KTAL NBC 6 has compiled a list of items you should include. However, if you want to buy care kits in bulk and save time and possibly money, we have also created a list of bulk order care kits that you can order now.
We'll start with a DIY version that you can assemble yourself, followed by a list of items you'll want to include in your care kit. Next, I'll list some of my favorite care kits that you can buy in bulk online on websites like Amazon.

Buy care kits in bulk
You can buy 50 care packages containing a razor, shaving cream, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, makeup remover, and mouthwash for about $60.
Or if you're worried about people staying warm in the winter, this sale on Amazon for just over $100 has 12 winter care packages including neck scarves, winter gloves, socks, blankets, warm hats, and more. I can get it. It is packed inside a drawstring bag.
When we treat others with dignity and respect, we make a difference in their lives and in our own lives.

If you just want money for food, consider handing out gift cards.
gift card project
The Gift Card Project is seen as a way to solve homelessness in the community by encouraging the public to help homeless people in the community. The idea is simple. Always carry a $5 to $10 gift card to a local fast food restaurant. For local residents, it is more efficient and effective to help homeless people in their own communities.
Whether it's a gift card or a care package, if you can talk to the people you're helping, give them the dignity and respect you want them to show you if the situation were reversed. Treat the people you interact with.
