Plans to build a $500 million entertainment and sports district in the heart of downtown Orlando could move forward. On Monday, the City Council is scheduled to vote on an incentive agreement for the Orlando Magic sports and entertainment complex. The agreement calls for an investment of $2.5 million. Build a conference center and event space and provide up to $40 million in property tax rebates to the project's developer over 10 years. This project he has been working on for over 10 years. The proposed entertainment district would be located across from the Kia Center and would provide approximately 261 hotel rooms and 273 residential units above the hotel. It will also include an office building, music venue, retail space and parking. These are what people want. “I think it's good for the community. People can come together, we can have different events there, and maybe we'll have more parking, whatever it is.” Facchetti-Ossil Orlando resident Eric Gilchrist -Junior said, “I'm definitely going to come here because another place would be better considering what I've already seen in the music and stuff.'' If everything is approved, construction could begin by the end of the year.
Plans to build a $500 million entertainment and sports district in the heart of downtown Orlando could move forward.
The City Council is scheduled to vote Monday on an incentive agreement for the Orlando Magic sports and entertainment complex.
The deal provides $2.5 million for the construction of a conference center and event space, and will provide up to $40 million in property tax rebates to the developer over 10 years for the project.
This project has been in the works for over 10 years. The proposed entertainment district would be located across from the Kia Center and would include approximately 261 hotel rooms and 273 residential units above the hotel.
It will also include an office building, music venue, retail space and parking.
It's something the locals said they wanted to see.
“I think it's good for the area. It brings people together and we can have different events there and maybe even more parking, whatever it is,” said Facketti Ossil, from Orlando.
“From what I've already seen with the music and stuff, another location would be even better, so I'm definitely going to come here,” Orlando resident Eric Gilchrist Jr. said.
If everything is approved, construction could begin by the end of the year.
