“Barbie” star Margot Robbie's production company LuckyChap Entertainment has joined Lionsgate and Hasbro's “Monopoly” movie, which is based on the classic game of the same name.
Lionsgate revealed Robbie's involvement in the previously announced project Wednesday during a presentation of the studio's upcoming film slate at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara also participated in the photo production of LuckyChap.
“We couldn't imagine a better production team for this beloved and iconic brand than Lucky Chap,” Lionsgate Film Group Chairman Adam Fogelson said in a statement.
“They're great producers who choose their projects thoughtfully and carefully, and come into 'Monopoly' with a clear vision… of what we all believe could be the next blockbuster. about.”
Robbie's Lucky Chap is best known for producing for Warner Bros. Barbie, based on the dolls from Hasbro's rival Mattel, grossed $1.4 billion worldwide last year and was nominated for eight Oscars. The company also backed Amazon MGM Studios' “Saltburn” and recent Sundance hit “My Old Ass.”
Last month, multiple news outlets reported that LuckyChap was directing a film adaptation of the hit video game “The Sims.”

Lionsgate also announced Wednesday plans to distribute Blumhouse's new “Blair Witch Project” film. The studio and director Jason Blum's Horror Film Factory will release the title as part of a multi-film deal that imagines horror titles from Lionsgate's library.
