Anne Hathaway has praised Christopher Nolan for saving her career after she became an “addict”.
The 41-year-old actress faced heavy criticism and trolls for her performance and wholesome “American Girl” persona before and after winning the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for “Les Misérables.”
She now says that after she won an Academy Award in 2013, she Googled herself and one of the top results was an article titled “Why Does Everyone Hate Anne Hathaway?” He told Vanity Fair that he remembered it.
Anne added that she feels director Christopher saved her by giving her the role right after 2014's Interstellar.
“I had an angel in Christopher Nolan. He didn't care and gave me one of the most beautiful roles in the best movies I've ever been in.”
Anne has been cast as NASA scientist Dr. Amelia Brando in the space travel blockbuster, Interstellar, directed by Christopher, 53, with whom she co-starred as Selina Kyle in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises.
She added to Vanity Fair that she suspected he was supporting her behind the scenes:
“And my career didn't lose as much momentum as it would have if he didn't support me.”
She added of the trolling and criticism she faced:
“The important thing is not to close yourself off. You have to remain bold, but that can be difficult, because if you stay safe, hug yourself in the middle, don't draw too much attention to yourself.” If you don't pull, it won't hurt you.''
“But if you want to do that, don't be an actor. You're like a tightrope walker. You're a daredevil.
“You are asking people to invest their time and money and attention and care in you.
“So you have to give them something worth all of that. And if it costs you nothing, what are you really going to offer?”
