The First Friday event in March is the largest of 2024 so far.
Lancaster City's monthly First Fridays feature many exhibition openings from local galleries, as well as workshops, musical events, children's activities, and more.
Many of the exhibitions focus on women artists and are timed to coincide with Women's History Month, which begins March 1st.

Anna Anna Creative Cove
Anna Anna Creative Cove will host workshops with artist Marcy Stone that encourage participants to “connect with themselves and their inner creative,” according to the venue's website. Admission includes supplies and refreshments.

Baldwin's gallery
Baldwin Gallery will debut a new exhibition by artists Barbara Deugarte, Alaina Fithian, and Chelsea Umbenhauer.

Curio Gallery & Creative Supply
Curio will continue to display works by artist Joanna Davies from her exhibition Pathways & Formations. Her Davis paintings are often abstract landscapes, sometimes incorporating elements of collage.

David Lyall Home & Design
David Lyall Home & Design is pleased to present the inaugural exhibition featuring works from artist Kristen Woodward's collection “Forces of Nature.'' Woodward's work features animals and uses a variety of mediums to emphasize the push and pull between the natural world and humans.
This exhibition will run until March 23rd.

eso arts
EsoArts is hosting a party on First Friday with a special spotlight on an artist named Lammi. There will also be a live DJ, food, and drinks.

first reformed church
Trumpeter Doug Albert has produced several works including the “Trumpet Shall Sound” from George Frideric Handel's “Messiah” and works by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Alessandro Marcello, and Eric Ewazen. Play that song on the trumpet. Pianist Larry Hershey will also accompany Albert. First Reformed Church is currently in the process of replacing its analog organ.

Friendship Heart Gallery
Friendship Heart Gallery will be premiering a collection of works called “Soaring Beyond Boundaries.” This collection will feature different types of media from several different artists. The exhibition is something of a preview for the gallery's annual art auction, which will be held March 21 at his Grace Church, 501 W. Lincoln Ave. in Lititz. All artwork is created by artists with intellectual disabilities or autism.

hamilton store
The Hamilton store, which opened in July 2023, will open on First Friday for the first time. The store will release a collaboration watch in conjunction with the release of the movie “Dune 2.” Also on display will be his refinished 1914 watch movement, adjusted and working for the first time in 32 years.

Lancaster City Welcome Center
In celebration of Women's History Month, the City of Lancaster Welcome Center will debut a new collection of works by women artists called “Personal Landscapes.” This collection includes works by artists Stephanie Gibson, Aubrey Mohler, Reagan Lehmann, Barbara J. Hart, and Jennifer Nye.

merlin bart pop up
Karen Anderer Fine Art is collaborating with artist Marlin Burt to present a pop-up art show in Burt's studio. Bart is planning to move his studio and would like to sell some of his paintings prior to the move.
If you would like to visit the studio sooner, you can do so on Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m.

Mulberry Art Studio
Mulberry Art Studio will present for the first time artist Richard Kidwell Miller's posthumous collection “The Paradox of Change and Continuity.'' Miller died in 2012 from complications from pneumonia. Click here for a detailed profile of Miller.

Parrot Gallery presents for the first time works from artist and ceramist Carmarena Stoltzfus Iyengar's collection “It's like riding a bike.” Our pottery collection includes a variety of items and styles.

Phillips Art Museum
The Phillips Art Museum on the campus of Franklin and Marshall College will continue to display works from artist Stas Shpanin's recently unveiled collection called “Portal.” The work combines traditional American folk art with artificial intelligence to create new contemporary pieces.

Indie used bookstore Read Rose Books collaborated with artist Libby Ethridge for First Fridays in March. Etheridge will debut her collection of works inspired by classical literature, “Painting Pages.” Ethridge will host live art demonstrations, and there will also be light refreshments and snacks from Soulmates Korean Kitchen.

The Ware Center celebrates Women's History Month with performances and exhibition openings.
Artist Thunder Cut will present an open mic poetry showcase featuring performances from several spoken word poets. The Hutt's annual “Thunda N Mimosas” event is now in its fourth year.
Also on display will be an exhibition of “Connections and Pathways,” a collection by Millersville University alumni Kelly Sacco and Anne Thomas. Both artists paint landscapes. The exhibition will run until March 29th.
