Millville kicked off its summer concert series last week with a performance by the popular band Lower Case Blues.
The city-sponsored concert drew an appreciative crowd to Evans Park on Dukes Drive, where a food truck served concertgoers a selection of cuisines from Italian to Thai, as well as sweet treats from Rita's Ice Cream. did.
Dustin Showers will next perform for free at the Evans Park Pavilion on Wednesday, May 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. Showers has gained a considerable following locally for his music, which spans genres from rock to country to pop. The Fun Stars took to the Evans Park stage on Wednesday, June 12th, also from 6pm to 8pm. The band consists of four lead vocalists, three horns, and one guitar and has toured the world with artists such as Joe Cocker, Scandal, and Paul Young. Friends and bandmates for over 30 years, the Funstars' music also spans decades and genres. The FunStars Show is sponsored by the City of Millville.
Next, a show sponsored by the Millville Fire Company will bring the Fitzkey Brothers to Millville on June 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Fitzkey Brothers are two local teens from Lewes, Drew Fitzkey on bass and Alex Fitzkey on drums.
The two have been performing together since 2018, when they played their first show at Dogfish Head Brewing & Eats in Rehoboth Beach. Since then, they've performed with impressive musicians such as Post Malone, Robert Randolph, Paul Cullen, and Bruce Katz.
Adhering to the motto “Two Brothers, One Rhythm,” the Fitzkey Brothers' style has been described by one critic as “Foo Fighters meets Allman Brothers.” Their latest single “Lakesong” was released on March 1st.
On the Edge will perform pop, rock, classical and dance tunes at Evans Park on July 10 from 6-8 p.m. The Salisbury, Maryland-based group is in its 20th year performing throughout the Eastern Shore. High-energy sound that makes the audience dance wildly.
The final concert of the summer series will feature local singer and guitarist Drake Byrd, and the concert will be sponsored by the Millville Volunteer Fire Company. Bird is a local artist (and longtime member of the fire department) whose song list spans decades and whose smooth vocals have made him a favorite at many local spots.
Bird's concert is July 24 from 6 to 8 p.m.
All concerts at Evans Park in Millville are free. Each concert venue will feature carefully selected food trucks. Concert-goers must bring their own chairs and blankets.
In addition to the Summer Concert Series, the park will also host Magic for Morgan on Saturday, June 8th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A fundraiser for local youth battling brain cancer, the event will include a petting zoo, pony rides, face experiences and more. Paintings, food trucks, inflatable play equipment, and more. The proceeds will go towards her family's medical expenses.
