The Business Ethics Award recognizes individuals who embody the concept of “service above self” and strive to build a positive sense of self-worth both in the business community and throughout the broader community. Criteria for this award include adhering to high ethical standards of honesty, integrity and consistency in dealings with employees, contractors and customers, while actively enhancing the economic well-being of the company's stakeholders; It includes providing jobs, opportunities and benefits.
“Nan and Bobby are extremely deserving of these awards,” said Richard Fountain, Lewis Baer Jr. Dean of the College of Business. “They adhere to high ethical standards in the workplace and generously donate their valuable time to better our communities. They truly embody the concept of service above self. .”
Mr. Potomski, executive director of operations for Baptist Health Care, was recognized in the large business category, organizations with 50 or more employees. Potomski is responsible for strategic operational leadership for imaging, laboratory, radiotherapy, infusion centers, palliative care, and hospital-based physician programs. He previously served as administrator of Gulf Breeze Hospital, where he demonstrated leadership in outstanding service, operational improvement, and financial performance. Mr. Potomski has been with Baptist Healthcare for 14 years, holding various positions including Director of Primary Care Services, Senior Manager of Physician Practice Development and Operations, and Executive Director of Hospital Medicine. He serves as president of the Pensacola Cultural Center and Pensacola Little Theater, the Gulf Breeze Rotary Club, and is also a director of the Capital Trust Agency, Gulf Breeze Regional Water System, Board of Directors. For the Pensacola State University Foundation.
“As a member of the Pensacola community, I have benefited from the mentorship and growth of great teachers and leaders,” Potomski said. “Our community has grown and thrived when like-minded people work together for the betterment of everyone involved, and it was an honor to do my part to contribute to that. Baptist Throughout my career in Health Care, I have similarly strived to act with equity and consistency while focusing on the common good of the greater community. The opportunities I have been given to volunteer in a variety of capacities have been a rewarding way to give back and give back to others.”
Mr. Destafny, winner of the small category, became CFO of Blues Angel Music in 2009 after retiring from the U.S. Navy after 37 years of service. By 2012, she was promoted to the position of CEO of a nationally recognized company, overseeing 11 divisions and her 49 employees. Mr. Destafny is a member of Impact 100, the Paul Harris Society, the Rotary Club of Cordova, and serves on the board of the J. Hugh and Earl W. Fellows Memorial Fund and the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra. She is a sought-after speaker, frequently speaking to audiences about the neurobiological effects of music, and serves as executive director of the Blues Angel Music Foundation.
