With more patents per capita than any other city in the country, the city's inventions have traveled the world, including everything from the pop-top can, the ice tray, the car ignition system, and the airplane that was invented here. I changed.
Inspired by Dayton's history of innovation and invention, Warped Wing opened its doors in its first location in downtown Dayton 10 years ago.
Just as the Wright Brothers were ready to take flight, so was the Warped Wings brand. As their base expanded from his one location to four, they continued to be strategic and improved their winning formula.
One of the focuses was the outdoor space.
“With the addition of our new location, we are finally able to incorporate an outdoor patio beer garden space that we have long desired for downtown. Unfortunately, our availability in downtown is limited due to the building layout and parking. Springboro and Hoover's outdoor spaces are purposely designed to be large enough to accommodate a significant number of patrons during the warmer months. “There's nothing better than that,” said Nick Bowman, co-founder and vice president of sales and marketing.
They have been intentional about incorporating indoor spaces that connect with the outdoors thanks to large garage doors that open to the outside. The design choices pay homage to the original downtown location, which can provide a patio-like atmosphere without the pitfalls of inclement weather.
“Since COVID-19, I think many patrons have gotten used to eating and drinking outdoors as part of social distancing. I think it's more important than ever to provide that kind of service to people who want it.If you have a patio, you can sit outside in the spring, summer, and fall. It will provide better opportunities and catering for people who like to drink beer and enjoy food,” Bowman said.
Here's what each location offers:
- Huber Heights: It features 80 patio seats for full table service, plus two used bourbon barrels and five drink-only chairs and six Adirondack chairs.
- Springboro: There are 69 patio seats and 9 spots around the fire pit area. There will also be a cornhole board for guests to enjoy.
- Mason: There are 56 patio seats for full table service and 16 for outdoor bar service through garage-style doors that open from behind the bar to the patio. Cornhole and giant Jenga are both available on the patio.
- Dayton: There's no real patio, but there are seven bar seats at the top of the bar that extend across the garage door when open.
All patios are pet friendly. They ask that their furry friends be kept on leashes and well-behaved so as not to disturb other guests on the patio.
“Ten years have gone by so quickly and things have changed so much. When I look back at what we have overcome and achieved, it is truly amazing. I am so proud of our team and I am so proud of our team. , we are grateful to the community for embracing and supporting us,” Bowman said. “I am humbled to say the least, and I hope we continue to make Dayton proud and continue to grow and evolve.”
It's impossible to celebrate your 10th anniversary in business without celebrating. The 10th Anniversary Beer Bash & Urban Smokeout will be held on May 18th at Warped Wing, the original Dayton brewery and taproom.
“We'll have a tent set up in part of the parking lot and we'll have live music and DJs throughout the day. (We'll have) one of our Trotwood trailers and event vans pouring beer outside. We'll also have a tent on site. We'll also have smoked brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. Our Dayton location may not have a patio, but we definitely know how to throw a party in the parking lot,” Bowman said. “Additionally, our culinary team has been working on revamping our smoky food menu over the past few months, with a focus on truly embracing traditional American barbecue, but blending it with a bit of a Hispanic feel. I'm really looking forward to rolling out the new menu.”
