When it comes to writing music, Barbra Streisand has a way with words. Instagram comments? There aren't that many.
The 82-year-old legendary entertainer of “Funny Girl” and “A Star Is Born” sparked heat on Monday when he appeared to comment on actor Melissa McCarthy's appearance on Instagram. On Monday afternoon, the “Little Mermaid” star, 53, shared a photo of herself and her choreographer Matthew Vaughn attending Center Theater Group's annual gala over the weekend.
“Pastel colors in honor of the amazing @matthewbourne13 who attended last night's @ctgla gala with this pal @adamshankman!!,” McCarthy captioned the photo. “I'm getting very close to my dream of dancing on stage 💃🏻💚🩷”
McCarthy and Vaughn's pastel look was praised by their Hollywood peers, including actors Glenn Close and Mariska Hargitay, who both commented that the look was “gorgeous.”
Oscar winner Octavia Spencer commented on McCarthy's photo: “This Rourke is delicious.”
“Absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for honoring @matthewbourne13 at your celebration. We love you!!!,” Center Theater Group responded.
But hours after McCarthy shared the photo, Streisand reportedly commented: “Thank you, did you take Ozempic?” According to multiple sources, screenshot Shared on social media.

Streisand's casual comment quickly divided opinion on social media. In the comments section of McCarthy's post, followers wrote that the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony Award) winner should be “ashamed!”
“Babs. No, honey. Just no,” one user replied to Streisand's comment, which has since been deleted on Instagram.

Neither Streisand nor McCarthy have publicly responded to the exchange on Instagram, amid mixed reactions on social media. Representatives for the actors did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Times.
McCarthy has been open about her appearance for years, speaking publicly about her experiences with fat shaming and how she came to accept herself.
“Somewhere in my 30s, I thought, 'It's okay to be who I am.' And if someone isn't thrilled with that, that's okay too,” she told People magazine in 2023. .You have to learn it the hard way, but it's good [lesson]”
