Director Shawn Levy deadpool and wolverinedoesn't like doing his homework and doesn't require any prior knowledge of the MCU for movie fans to enjoy his latest work.
The filmmaker revealed in a recent interview that the new Marvel movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is meant to be entertaining.
“I was a good student in school. As an adult, I do my homework. But when I go to the movies, I definitely don't want to do my homework,” Levy said in an interview with The Associated Press.
The MCU has become complicated for some due to the amount of movies and streaming shows it has produced over the years. But Levy promises that this new entry into Marvel's multiverse has also been done with respect for its “enthusiastic fan base.”
“I made this film with an admittedly healthy sense of respect and appreciation for these characters and the passionate fan base that understands the mythology and lore of this world to the fullest. But I didn't want to guess that,” he added. “This film is made for entertainment purposes and there is no obligation to conduct any prior research.”
During CinemaCon, Levy said that this is the third movie to feature Deadpool, but it shouldn't be called that. deadpool 3.
“When it came to crafting the story of Deadpool and Wolverine, I felt privileged every day because we're talking about two big movie stars in some of the most iconic roles,” Levy said on Screen during CinemaCon. told Rant. “It gave me a chance as well. This is the third Deadpool movie, but it's not Deadpool 3. It's a different thing, a lot like Deadpool and Wolverine. And from the first two movies… We're not trying to copy anything. They were great, but this is a two-handed character adventure.”
