Officials announced the opening of a six-story public parking deck that will anchor Andretti Indoor Karting & Games' first Midwest store and the first phase of the entertainment district around the Schaumburg Convention Center and Renaissance Hotel. Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer.
Samantha LaMagna, director of marketing for Andretti Karting, said the 89,300-square-foot entertainment facility is scheduled to open in 2025. It will feature a multi-level indoor electric go-kart track, as well as a restaurant, bowling alley, laser tag room, ride simulator room and a variety of games.

A 7,800-square-foot mezzanine area on the second floor will include private rooms for parties and events.
The village-owned parking deck will feature complementary architecture, space for 976 vehicles, and a 14-foot-tall electronic bulletin board facing the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.
Village officials said the message boards will likely focus on events at the convention center and Andretti Kart.

The first phase of the entertainment district on the west side of the Renaissance Hotel includes designated space for two future restaurants north of Andretti Karting.
Andretti Cart was first proposed in January 2022 as an early anchor for the entertainment district. But it wasn't until last June that the village board formally abandoned a 20-year plan to build a 2,400-seat performing arts center on the same property.
The decision included reallocating $27.5 million that had already been saved for the performing arts center into the village's building replacement fund.
The board approved final plans for the Andretti cart and parking deck in November.
Initial preparations for the entertainment district include the purchase, eviction and demolition of the one-story Woodfield Green office complex to the north and the design of a proposed pedestrian bridge that would connect to the Veridian development at the former Motorola campus across Meacham Road. It included style improvements and more.
Construction of the Andretti cart and parking deck will result in the short-term loss of 291 existing parking spaces, but the village's acquisition of the vacant land to the north will not only help prepare for that, but will also create an entertainment district. It was considered a preparation for future stages.
