The Santa Barbara Blues Society (SBBS) welcomes singer Nikki Hill for a 7:15 p.m. show on Saturday, May 11 at the Carrillo Recreation Center, 101 E. Carrillo Street, Santa Barbara. This will be his first local appearance as the headliner.Main doors open at 7 p.m.
A native of North Carolina and raised in a gospel music environment, Hill now lives in Memphis, Tennessee and is a purveyor of blues, R&B, rock, and roots music. She has released several albums and tours internationally.
Her band includes guitarist Laura Chavez, who became the first woman to win the Blues Foundation's Guitarist of the Year Blues Music Award in 2023.
The opening act will be harmonica player RJ Mischo, who currently resides in Ventura. Miccio has 15 albums to his name and is considered one of the best living blues harmonica players.
Micho will open the show with an acoustic set from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m., and Hill's band will take the stage at 8 p.m., playing two sets with an intermission.
Tickets range from $10 to $45 and can be purchased at the door on the night of the show. Advance tickets can be purchased at SBBlues.org and advance purchasers will receive early entry at 6:45 p.m.
SBBS members and Santa Barbara Jazz Society members and one accompanying guest each receive a $5 discounted admission fee.
