Country music star Morgan Wallen, accused of throwing a chair off the roof of a six-story bar, said he was “not proud” of his actions and denied responsibility. He said he acknowledged it.
The “One Thing at a Time” singer publicly responded on social media Friday night to his arrest in Nashville two weeks ago. He was charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct and is scheduled to appear in court May 3, according to court records.
The chief's bar chair fell about 3 feet (1 meter) from the officer, and officers spoke with witnesses and reviewed security footage, according to the arrest affidavit. Witnesses told officers that Warren picked up a chair and threw it onto the roof, laughing as they watched. Mr. Warren was booked and released early on April 8th.
“Until I made peace with some people, I didn't feel it was appropriate to check in publicly. I stayed in touch with the good people of Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the chief I am not proud of my actions and accept responsibility,'' Warren wrote on Twitter.
Warren, one of the biggest names in modern country, is currently on a stadium tour, including a concert scheduled for Saturday at Vought-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi.
“I have the utmost respect for the police officers who work every day to keep us all safe. There are no changes regarding my tour,” the message read, signed “-MW.”
The “One Thing at a Time” album remained at the top of the Billboard 200 for 16 weeks in 2023 and was the most consumed album in the United States last year. The album's top 10 hits included “Last Night,” “You Proof,” and “Thinkin' Bout Me.”
In 2021, the country singer was suspended indefinitely by his label after a video of him shouting a racial slur was leaked. In 2020, she was arrested on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct after she was kicked out of Kid Rock's bar in downtown Nashville.
