LOS ANGELES — Dick Van Dyke is vying for a historic Daytime Emmy Award at age 98.
The actor was nominated Friday for guest star in a daytime drama series for his role as amnesiac Timothy Robicheaux on Peacock's “Days of Our Lives.”
Mr. Van Dyke is the oldest nominee for a Daytime Emmy Award. Producer Norman Lear was 100 years old when he received his final nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2022, but he passed away the following year.
Among Van Dyke's opponents is Australian actor Guy Pearce from Amazon Freevie's “Neighbours.”
Mr. Van Dyke has won four Primetime Emmy Awards, including three for the classic 1960s comedy series “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”
Actor and singer Selena Gomez is nominated in the culinary series category for her Food Network special “Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays.” The Food Network show “Valerie's Home Cooking,'' hosted by actor Valerie Bertinelli, which ended last year, was also nominated in the same category.
CBS will end “The Talk” with season 15 later this year. The show's Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O'Connell and Sheryl Underwood were nominated for daytime talk series host.
