Grimes screamed in frustration and apologized after his disastrous performance at Coachella.
The singer performed at the California Music Festival on Saturday (April 24, 13), riding on stage on top of a giant mechanical spider, but her set was hit by technical issues and equipment malfunctions, resulting in her song being cut short. I had to redo “Music 4 Machines.” Grimes told the crowd several times that all of her own songs were played at double speed.
She said: “This is insane. All of my tracks are double tempo. It's hard to explain, but there's been a major technical error. Don't judge me for bad math. Don't do that. All my tracks are doubles.'' The rest of the set is borderline unmixable because the tempo is so bad that I can't do the math, but it'll still be fun. ”
However, continued technical issues left the singer screaming in frustration, and he has now issued an apology on X (formerly known as Twitter).
She writes: “We would like to apologize for the technical issues with tonight's show. We would love to have you back.” [really] I'm strong and usually handle all aspects of my show myself. This was the first time I outsourced something important, like having someone else do things like her BPM on rekordbox and organizing the tracks on the SD card to save time.
“I had a bad feeling I didn’t run everything through the CDJs myself beforehand, but [though] I flagged it because it wasn't persistent. The big lessons for me were many different things.
“1. If you want it done right, do it yourself. 2. Stay calm, even if the other person doesn't feel well. 3. Pretend you're probably okay and engage.” [with] Audience members ended up slumped over their desks trying to fix the software rather than spending the entire show. [your] meant to be funny [sic]. ”
Grimes went on to claim that something like this will never happen again when she returns to Coachella for the festival's second weekend.
He added: “Next week I will personally organize all my files. I will never let anything like this happen again.
“I've spent months working on this show, creating the music and visuals, and I'm certainly not feeling the best. [at the moment].
“But yeah, next week will be perfect, everything will be fine.” [through] my hand.
“Some good lessons learned. God bless you all. The CDJs were showing BPMs like 370, so I couldn't even mix manually by ear, and the front monitors were off. So it was literally a mess of sounds on the side trying to guess the situation' sounds for you guys.
“Please forgive me! Love, always [sic]. ”
