Tori Spelling felt “freed” when Dean McDermott announced their breakup on social media.
The 57-year-old actor announced his split from Tori on Instagram in June, and the 50-year-old star now admits she felt relieved that her estranged husband had decided to move on.
Tori said on the podcast “misSpelling”: [his post] I'm not kidding, it felt like this giant stone had been removed from my chest.
“I took a deep breath and thought, 'Oh my God. He said it. He said it. So now I'm free.'”
Tori struggled to find the courage to walk away from her marriage. But her Dean's post put all her worries to rest.
She explained: “I didn't have the balls to leave.
“I couldn't do it, but he did it. [I thought] “Now we can move on. He put it out there. Let's go. Yes! I needed this,' right? I mean, I just couldn't do it.”
Dean had announced the divorce on social media before deleting the post.
At the time, he wrote on Instagram: “After 18 years together and raising 5 wonderful children, @torispelling and I have gone our separate ways and are starting our new journey together. It is with great sadness and with a very heavy heart that I have decided to embark on this journey.'' (sic)''
Tori, who has three children with Dean: Liam (17), Stella (15), Hattie (12), Finn (11), and Beau (7), actually wants Dean to delete this post. There wasn't. However, the aftermath of this upset the children, so Dean decided to delete the message.
Tori, who previously played Donna Martin on “Beverly Hills, 90210,'' said: “If it was up to me, he wouldn't have left. But it hurt the kids, so they wanted to leave.'' ” he said.
