Billie Piper has admitted that striking a work-life balance is “absolutely impossible”.
The 'Scoop' actress, who has sons Winston, 15, and Eugene, 11, with ex-husband Laurence Fox, and daughter Tallulah, 5, with ex-partner Johnny Lloyd, is very proud of her work. I feel that it can be quite tiring. When she has an important role on a project, she has to leave the house for long periods of time, making it increasingly a “struggle” to balance her work with the needs of her children.
She told independent.co.uk: “The job of a working mother is really complex.”
When asked if she has a work-life balance, she added: I don't. I feel like I'm being told I should. But that can never happen, right?
“That's one of the tiring things about being an actor for hire. When you're doing a lead role, you can be away from home for up to 15 hours a day.
“Now that I have three kids, I’m really struggling with that.”
Billy explained that it can be particularly difficult because there is an intensive three-month filming period, after which there may be no work for the rest of the period.
“But when you're gone, you're gone too. These extreme actions create something very difficult,” she said.
The 41-year-old star has found herself experiencing more “primitive” emotions now that she's a mother, and feels “sick and furious” after seeing certain news articles. .
Speaking about her latest project, Scoop, which comes after securing the infamous Newsnight interview about Prince Andrew's friendship with billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, she said: Saying something innocent will only make you feel worse and enraged. I don't know that I had access to those emotions before having children.
“Things like that really upset me, or scare me. But when you have kids, it's totally primal. The emotions you get.
“And there’s a lot of stuff you can’t even watch or read anymore.
“And now that we have a baby girl, I feel amazingly protective of her!”
