Red Bluff, California — April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Friday, April 5th is Go Blue Day, according to the Children's Alliance.
Go Blue Day encourages people to wear their favorite color blue to commemorate our commitment to preventing child abuse.
A Red Bluff business has partnered with Tehema County 4 Kids to raise funds. Tehema County 4 Kids promotes awareness and community education to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Erica Atwell and Michelle McNeil are co-owners of Sip Coffee Bar on Walnut Street in Red Bluff. On April 5th, they donated 30% of all proceeds. Atwell said she had donated $350 by the end of the day.
“We're hoping this will bring in more customers. We love being involved in things like this,” McNeil said.
This is the first year they have held this event, and Atwell and McNeil hope to do it every year in the future. The owners say they are truly grateful to be able to contribute to the community.
“As soon as we opened, people started coming in,” McNeil said. “The community came out and supported a great event.”
Tehama County 4 Kids says anyone interested in becoming a member of the Child Abuse Prevention Council is welcome to attend the meeting. They meet at the Department of Education building in Red Bluff from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be on April 17th.
