san antonio – San Pedro Playhouse is bringing audiences outdoors for its latest production, “Midsummer Sueño,” an original San Antonio-themed adaptation of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The six shows will be performed on sets built in San Pedro Springs Park, directly behind the Classic Theater.
This adaptation, written specifically for this performance by Paco Farias, infuses the original text with modern English and Spanish phrases to make the classic play more accessible to audiences.
“This production weaves together a rich tapestry of Latin culture and Texas charm, promising an evening full of laughter, love, and cultural fusion that will leave you captivated. Shakespeare in the style of Southwest Texas. Let’s celebrate,” the theater said.
Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the nearly two-hour performance. The theater also features food trucks and vendors to enhance the experience.
Performances will run from April 9th to April 14th. Gates open at 6pm and the show begins at 7:30pm.
General admission tickets are free for youth and $25 for adults. VIP tickets guarantee seats close to the stage and include access to indoor restrooms and bar. Adults are $50, seniors/students/first responders are $35 and youth are $20.
