Actress Anya Taylor-Joy and her husband tied the knot in a secret candlelit ceremony in New Orleans on April Fool's Day two years ago, they announced on Instagram this week.
People were under the impression that The Queen's Gambit star and musician Malcolm McRae would say his vows in October 2023 in Venice, Italy.
However, Taylor-Joy took to Instagram on Tuesday to celebrate the second anniversary of McRae's death, and revealed to fans that they did, in fact, have a secret wedding in New Orleans in 2022. And she has the photos to prove it.
The intimate details of the ceremony remained somewhat cryptic, with Taylor-Joy only sharing a few selected photos from Marigny's wedding at the Hotel Peter and Paul.
In one photo, Taylor-Joy can be seen walking forward with a bouquet of flowers and a long white veil dragging across the wooden floor of a hotel church. She styled a Dior dress embroidered with a design of hummingbirds flying towards purple flowers.
In another photo, Taylor-Joy sits on the steps of a church podium with a small group, including model Cara Delevingne, surrounded by tapered candles and flowers.
Hotel Peter and Paul commented on Taylor-Joy's post, saying, “Exquisite love,” and “Thank you for choosing our space for your special day.”
The photo also included one of the couple's wedding cakes, two “anatomically correct” hearts in a pool of fake blood. Taylor-Joy shared a video on her Instagram Story showing her and McRae meshing with her heart.
She took the vampire theme a step further by calling herself “Vampire Lestat,” after New Orleans author Anne Rice's “Interview with the Vampire.”
McRae also took to Instagram on Tuesday to wish his wife a happy wedding anniversary.
“I still love you, and somehow I always do, and somehow it never ends,” McRae wrote in the caption. “Congratulations on your 2nd anniversary (yesterday), it's so wonderful.”
