NorthBay Health and Travis Credit Union announce joint scholarship program winners
NorthBay Health is collaborating with Travis Credit Union on a joint scholarship program to invest in the future of California Touro University student nurses in the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, the NorthBay Health and Travis Credit Union Nursing Scholarship. The winners have been announced.
“This support is not just an investment in my education; it is an investment in improving health care delivery and community health,” says scholarship recipient Jill Kac.
For Taylor Tyldesley, receiving the scholarship is both a financial and morale booster. “A scholarship gives you confidence that you are worth it and that someone believes in your ability to advance your career and is invested in you,” Tyldesley says.
For both students, winning the scholarship is a way to open the door to advanced educational opportunities to meaningfully contribute to the nursing profession and patient welfare.
Established in 2015, the NorthBay Health and Travis Credit Union Nursing Scholarship is designed to empower nursing students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Cal State Touro University into the MSN degree program . This scholarship is awarded to students who enroll in the spring semester, work at least half the time at North Bay Health while maintaining a Travis Credit Union account, have good grades, and experience that fosters professional growth and is dedicated to serving the community. Open to students who aim to maintain a well-qualified nursing workforce.
This scholarship program, which provides $30,000 in annual funding, has had a significant impact in increasing the number of nurses who earn advanced degrees.
A rigorous vetting process led by Dr. Prabjyot Sandhu, Touro University California Assistant Dean and Dean of the School of Nursing, representatives from North Bay Healthcare, and representatives from Travis Credit Union ensures a fair and transparent selection. Applicants are evaluated using a comprehensive rubric based on criteria such as academic standing, community involvement, and commitment to nursing. The goal is to distribute the full $30,000 scholarship amount to eligible individuals.
“We are proud to partner with Touro University and North Bay to sponsor the Master of Science in Nursing Scholarship,” said Steward Pimienta, Director of Community Engagement at Travis Credit Union. “This is an investment in our community, in health care, and in the people who choose to make a difference in people's lives.”
Community Impact: The North Bay Health and Travis Credit Union Nursing Scholarship is a testament to the collaborative efforts of both organizations in developing strong, skilled and dedicated health care workers. With 29 scholarships awarded to date, the program has had a measurable impact on the lives and careers of aspiring nurses.
