“It was insane for the series to reach 1,000 episodes, and by the way, I should point out that almost 500 of those were just us,” he says. NCIS Star Sean Murray is approaching that milestone. “I'm proud of it, so I have to let it out.”
That episode will air on Mothership on April 15th, and Murray appears in most of the episodes aired. NCIS, reappeared in season 1 and became a series regular in season 2. That means he was there the entire time, including any necessary changes on set.
“It's unreal. A lot of people asked me what it was like, and I kept shaking my head because it was really unfathomable,” he tells TV Insider. “A show shouldn't last 21 years. It's a miracle it picks up. It's a miracle it makes it past a year. It's a bloody miracle. Sorry, I'm Australian and I say awful things a lot. If it lasts five years, it's a real miracle. That's insane. And a TV show lasts 21 years… It's been there for so long that the partitions and stuff have broken down, so they have to rebuild the permanent set. We had to build it. We're not even kidding. The chairs that were brand new when we started the series, and the beautiful $1,000 boardroom chairs that are falling apart like crazy now that they're in their 21st year. A lot of things need to be replaced.”
Murray is hesitant to share too much about the 1,000th episode itself (which we already know) Hawaiiwith Vanessa Lachey L.A.(also starring Daniela Rua) promises to be fun for longtime fans and new fans alike.
“My favorite thing we did for the 1,000th episode is that there are little Easter eggs and hidden things.” all Throughout the episode, and not just hidden. We remember a lot, but it's a little difficult to explain,” he admits. “It's a great show for first-time viewers and new fans. For those who have been with us for a long time, it's really special because, like I said, you get to see Easter eggs in things. Because it's going to be. You're going to see things that are hints at old episodes and famous episodes that we've done. Little moments. Characters that you haven't seen in a long time are coming back.”
For example, it was part of the first episode of the series, “Yankee White,” he continues, “Air Force One was very involved in that, as well as in that episode and our past characters. One such character in that episode is Fornell, played by Joe Spano. Thanks to a photo Murray shared on Instagram, we also know he's returning for the 1,000th episode.
There are other characters mentioned above as well. NCIS For a show to appear on its 1,000th episode, don't necessarily expect any other crossovers. (Ruhr directed the episode that Murray liked. “I know she did a lot of stuff.”) L.A.So it seems like a natural thing for that to happen,” he shares. )
With the shortened season, “we want to make the most of our 10 episodes as much as possible, so we've turned quite a bit inward and made it more character-focused.” Murray explains. “We just want to sit back and make our team successful there.”
However, he does not intend to rule it out in the future. “We like to do crossovers and things like that, and it's a lot of fun. We know that when the show continues, if the show continues, something like that will happen and everyone will play within the franchise.” he says.
And those crossovers are fun!In the end, at three show events in January 2023, Murray L.A.'s Chris O'Donnell (G. Cullen) and LL COOL J (Sam) after co-starring in the two-part backdoor pilot Legend. NCIS 2009 Season 6.
“I'll never forget doing that interrogation scene with Chris and Todd. It was so much fun, because I'm always the one who's there grilling everyone, so I was on the other side of the table. , and it was so much fun to have them there,” Murray said. “I remember when we were in sixth grade and there was a spin-off, it was wild. So it was really cool to see their success and the way the show went. is the same, but the show was also very different. I know they didn't want a carbon copy NCIS, although the name is the same. It was a different kind of show than usual, but it was really fun to have those characters together. ”
