The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened employees at a private pier after they told him “you can't go there,” San Diego-based station CBS8 reported on March 11. It was reported on the day.
Joseph Holt, 21, Marriott Marina employee He told CBS8 he saw a yacht pull into a private dock in San Diego. The owner, identified by CBS8 as Ajay Thakore, tried to pick up another person at the docks, Holt said.
“I respectfully told him I couldn't be there. Honestly, I wanted to talk to him about his cool boat,” Holt told CBS8.
In a YouTube video posted by @SM-wc9eq on March 10, a dark blue Technomar for Lamborghini 63 can be seen leaving the dock. A man wearing a gray T-shirt, jeans and a hat was standing on a yacht. According to CBS8, the man is believed to be Mr. Thakoa.
Mr Tacore was shown screaming at Mr Holt. “I'll kill you, you know I'll kill you!” he can be heard saying multiple times in the video
Mr. Tacoa was then shown clapping his fists with his palms, pointing his thumbs down, and then telling Mr. Holt, “Face me!” Mr. Holt responded by giving Mr. Tacore the middle finger.
“I was really trying to hold myself back so I didn't get fired from my job or get sidetracked. The only thing I did was give him the bird,” Holt told CBS8.
Holt said Tacore then took a $100 bill from his wallet and threw it at Holt. He added that Mr. Thakoa took a dislike to him. This exchange was not shown on video.
“He said I was nobody, I was nobody, doing some stupid job. He knew people, he had connections, he couldn't change my life, I said I could ruin it,” Holt said. Holt did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
According to CBS8, San Diego Port Police arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Tacoa's yacht left the pier. Port police did not immediately respond to BI's request for comment.
According to Mr. Thakoa's LinkedIn page, he is the CEO of Doctor Multimedia. According to his website for the company, he is a health care marketing company based in San Diego. Tacoa appears to be active under the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok, where he is seen as a professional gambler.
Tacore released a statement to CBS8 through his public relations team calling the altercation with Holt “regrettable.”
“What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate interaction,” the statement said. Thakoa did not immediately respond to BI's request for comment.
Thakore is not the only CEO to be cited for threatening others. In November 2021, an Activision spokesperson told BI that former CEO Bobby Kotick had apologized for previously telling his assistant he would kill him. The spokesperson added that Kotick's threat was “clearly exaggerated and inappropriate” and that he “deeply regrets the exaggeration and tone.”
In June 2020, LaFace Skincare CEO Lisa Alexander said: A woman working for a cosmetics company has apologized in a statement to the media after a neighbor threatened to call the police for writing “Black Lives Matter” on her property. In her apology, Alexander said she was “disrespectful” and that “she should have been minding her own business.”
