The suspect is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder.
AURORA, Colo. — A man was shot and killed Wednesday at a storage unit business in northwestern Aurora near Interstate 225 and Interstate 70.
Aurora Police Department officers responded to a store in the 14700 block of East 40th Street to continue an unrelated investigation around 4:30 p.m. Around the same time, a business owner called 911 to report a man had shot someone, according to the Aurora Police Department.
Responding officers searched the facility and found a 26-year-old Aurora man suffering from gunshot wounds. They tried to save the man, but he died at the scene from his injuries.
The Adams County Coroner's Office will release his name once next of kin is notified.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Joaquin Enrique Cabral Favela of Denver, was taken into custody for questioning and later arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. Aurora police said a gun was also recovered at the scene and seized as evidence.
