Mercedes Mone made her debut with AEW at AEW Big Business and wasted no time as Dynamite opened with Mercedes' new “CEO” theme song. Mercedes got emotional and thanked the fan and his brother, saying she couldn't wait to cry with the women behind her. Mone also mentioned that she has unfinished business with Willow Nightingale, who defeated her for the New Japan Pro Wrestling Women's Strong Championship.
Outside of big pops and solid promos, Monet didn't say much and didn't have any angles in the opening segment. However, Mone's presence will be a boon for the women's division, as she hopes to help AEW awaken the sleeping giant of the talented women's division.
Last week's AEW Dynamite broadcast underperformed with 779,000 viewers following Sting's retirement and the highly talked about AEW Revolution 2024.

AEW Big Business Winners and Results
Mercedes Monet makes her debut
Mercedes Mone opened the show, coming out of a Mercedes-Maybach to match the new “CEO” theme. When she started the show, her fans screamed “CEO” like CM Punk.
An emotional Mercedes thanked the fans for supporting him through the ups and downs and history-making moments.
Mercedes hinted at a feud with Willow Nightingale, but other than her big pops and chants of “CEO,” there were no angles or big moments. It would be great to see her in AEW, where she needs to rely on her women's division to get out of her current funk.
Mercedes Mone Debut grade: B
Samoa Joe Def. Wardlaw
Prior to the match, AEW aired Adam Cole reading a story about Wardlow's heel journey. It was literally the first story time I had with Adam Cole in a while.
Samoa Joe kicked Wardlow in the knee, which was a first for everyone. Joe kept getting in the way of a senton splash.
After being slaughtered as another pig, Wardlow lost by submission to Coquina Clutch. Wardlow's rinse, wash, repeat cycle in AEW has now reached the repeat stage with Wardlow at the end of the line.
Samoa Joe vs Wardlow Grade: B
Elite Defense Penta El Zero M, Eddie Kingston, PAC
Backstage, the Young Bucks bullied Alex Maves while giving a speech calling Kazuchika Okada “the greatest wrestler alive.” Matthew Jackson also said there were 14 million reasons why he signed Okada. At the end of the promo, Okada forced Mavs to sing Happy Birthday to Jackson.
The Young Bucks received a ton of pyro upon their entrance. Matthew Jackson then tossed a coin, and when it landed Okada's music hit.
The announcers marveled at all the talent in the ring and called it the “All-Star Game” of talent. This was his epitome of AEW, with plenty of talent but limited storylines.
Both Penta El Zero M and Matthew Jackson were completely red and very confused.
This was just a garden-variety match that said, “This is amazing.” Okada defeated Eddie Kingston with a rainmaker, followed by a low blow.
Elite vs. Penta El Zero M, Eddie Kingston, PAC Grade: B+
Will Ospreay hopes to beat Bryan Danielson
Will Ospreay did a lively promo for Bryan Danielson, dressed as if he had just come home from his son's soccer practice, dressed as a goalie. He wanted to bring that feeling back to AEW, and that's who he was, he said.He went on to demonstrate that this sentiment was to his benefit. Story Fight with Bryan Danielson over who is the better wrestler. It's no big deal.
AEW continues to rest on its laurels by booking the matchup between Danielson and Ospreay as a “dream match.” There is no story, no personal opinion. Just pro wrestling. they don't understand it.
Will Ospreay Promo Grade: D
Jay White Def. Darby Allin
The Guns continue to have one of the best ears in the business through relatively new theme music. The group also appeared on 50 Cent's “Many Men.”
The story of this match was Darby Allin coming back from his infamous glass dive and fighting through an injury with stitches. It is also impressive that he is still striving towards the summit of Everest, which is just around the corner.
White took advantage of Allin's injury and was more than happy to take on Allin in and out of the ring. It's still unclear whether Bullet Club Gold is a babyface or a heel, or if we should even care.
Jay White used heel tactics and took advantage of Allin's injury to win the match, especially after Allin attempted a coffin drop on the apron. Bullet Club Gold turned heel after attacking The Acraid, who was trying to make peace. After following Max Castor's Twitter feed, I was convinced he was turning heel.
Jay White vs. Darby Allin Grade: B+
Lion Hook Def. Gate of Pain
Chris Jericho continues to use his old Lionheart music, which is like LeBron James being good at dunks but settling for mid-range jumpers.
During this match on the heated AEW Big Business Show, fans were certainly starting to show signs of fatigue.
Lionheart synchronized with Coun Bishop's Ugly Lionheart/Red Rum combo. Hook ultimately secured the submission victory with a Red Rum on Coun.
Fans continued to boo when Chris Jericho appeared backstage with Hook. Jericho then challenged Hook live from Toronto, teasing a possible heel turn. Fans continued to boo. The great thing about this show is that they used it to build the lineup for Dynamite, which is coming to Canada next week.
Lionheart vs. Gates of Agony Grade: B-
Willow Nightingale Def. Riho
Backstage, Mercedes Mone wished Riho good luck in the main event against Nightingale. It was also likely that Monet, who dropped Willow's name in the opening promo, would appear in the main event.
AEW talks about how Riho has been wrestling since she was 9 years old, which is crazy because she only looks like 12 years old.
Riho connected with Nightingale with a terrifying Northern Lights Suplex, and the fans continued to chant, “This is amazing,” and got excited about the match. Riho then hits a dragon suplex, but Nightingale lands. Riho tossed Willow around more often than Willow threw Riho around.
Nightingale won with a Doctor Bomb, setting up a showdown with Morne.
Julia Hart and Sky Blue attacked Nightingale after the match, taking out Mercedes Mohn to make the save, and finishing Hart off with a modified Gory Special. As the show ended, fans chanted “CEO!”
Riho vs Willow Nightingale Grade: B+
